Why Did I Create This Blog?
I’m not a reverse racist, anti-White or a militant. I’m a proud Black woman who—like so many others—is fed up with the unmitigated gall of some of my supervisors and coworkers, who’ve felt they could wield their personal biases and prejudices as legitimate weapons of the workplace.
I created this blog, primarily, for three reasons:
1. I was targeted for retaliation by a previous employer.
2. I’ve worked for a number of companies that, in my opinion, have engaged in discrimination/disparate treatment of staff—violations of Federal law under Title XII of the Civil Rights Act.
3. I’ve had far too many conversations with minorities that echo the same sentiments about on-the-job racism.
This blog is a call to action for African Americans. But, ultimately, each person has to make decisions they can live with. There are ramifications for complaining and for remaining silent. In order to make informed decisions, to develop strategies, to cope with wide-ranging emotions or to decide whether to stay at a job or to move on, we each need as much information as possible.
This blog will consolidate information, resources, and varying perspectives on issues related to race and the workplace.
